Background: Eunuchs rarely, if ever, develop prostate cancer CaP. This article reports on a year-old functional eunuch from prepubertal mumps orchitis who developed clinically localized CaP. Methods: Eunuch org and CaP and benign prostate tissue androgen levels were measured using a validated liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry assay. The assay measures testosterone; dihydrotestosterone DHT ; the adrenal androgens, androstenedione and dehydroepiandrosterone; and the androgen metabolites, androsterone and androstanedione. Gene and protein expression levels of androgen metabolism enzymes, and androgen receptor and androgen-regulated genes were measured using quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry, respectively. : Intracrine androgen metabolism produced tissue DHT when serum and tissue testosterone levels were castrate and undetectable, respectively.

Three years later he painted an altarpiece for the chapel of St. He traveled throughout his life and, inembarked on an extensive voyage to Greece, Egypt, Turkey, and Asia Minor. He ended up staying several years, as he received commissions for portraits of members of the royal family and frescoes in Romanian churches. Possibly Butkin, Cleveland, Ohio, given by Muriel S.

Butkin to the Cleveland Museum of Art. The earlier provenance of this painting is unclear.

However, it seems unlikely that this painting is the Cleveland picture, because while the description provided in the catalogue of the man in the painting matches that of the Cleveland picture, the female figure, so important to the composition, is not mentioned.
